Now in its 7th year, this highly respected survey provides:
- A comprehensive analysis and trends of salaries of ICT staff, over a range of 11 different job levels, and by type of authority, job type, geographical location, gender, and age.
- Detailed comparisons and trends of Local Authority salaries with those in the private sector.
- An analysis of recruitment and retention issues, and the actions taken to relieve them.
- Details of skill levels across a wide range of job functions.
- Details of other fringe benefits including bonuses, flexitime, job sharing and home working.
The survey is undertaken in partnership with Computer Economics Ltd (CEL), who undertake the largest, longest running and most respected research into ICT remuneration.
For 2007, CEL and SOCITM have agreed to incorporate the Socitm Salary Survey into the CEL Computer Staff Salary Survey and create a new survey called the Public Sector IT Salary Survey. The new survey will utilise the full Computer Staff Salary Survey framework, but the survey results will be drawn solely from the Public Sector industry group.
Advantages include:
- Expanded Job Levels, Functions, Key Skills and IT Qualifications from the main survey.
- Full on line access to the Public Sector IT Salary Survey results using CEL’s JobPricing tool.
- The increased sample size in the new survey will provide participants with a greater depth of analysis.
- Option to purchase full Computer Staff Salary Survey and supplements at the participant rate.
The database now contains details of more than 6000 staff, seven job levels, five job functions, and a total of 105 key skills, and is therefore the most comprehensive salary survey in Local Government.
The survey is an essential HR planning tool, and its use will be particular important to those Authorities planning job evaluation exercises. Such exercises have tended to have a detrimental effect on ICT pay salary levels, so be prepared with up-to date information.
