Venue and timing: 1200 – 1300 12 June in the Westminster Room, Earl’s Court

The topic of this year’s Socitm’s members’ event at GC Expo (12-13 June, Earls’ Court Exhibition Centre) is the Business Improvement Package, a developing initiative from the Department for Communities to provide support and capacity building to help local authority managers with their work on transformation and customer service.

Members* will be able to hear more about the BIP and the support being provided from Roger Clarkson, who is National Advisor, Local Government Transformation & Efficiency, at the Department for Communities & Local Government. The event will be chaired by Socitm’s new President, Rose Crozier.

The Business Improvement Package has been set up to provide:

  • Practical resources, developed and tested by local government;
  • Support for local authorities to better understand and then improve their business processes, transaction costs and customer interactions
  • Help with partnership working and shared service delivery;
  • Means to share ideas and learning

Those attending the event will also be able to input into the national consultation process on BIP which completes in early June. Attendance at the event, from 1200 to 1300 on 12 June is free of charge but delegates should register in advance by visiting www.gcexpo.com/page.cfm/link=36
