Membership

Socitm is the membership association for all ICT professionals working in Local Authorities and the Public and Third Sectors and suppliers to those sectors. Membership is personal to individuals and members enjoy a range of valuable benefits. A Corporate membership facility is available for organizations who wish to provide membership for a group of individuals.

Founded in 1986 as the professional association for ICT managers working in and for the public sector, members are drawn primarily from local authorities, the police and fire services, housing authorities and other locally delivered public services. With around 1700 members from 550 different organisations including 98% of all UK local authorities.

In October 2008 membership was extended to include managers or consultants from organisations supplying ICT products and services or other support to those sectors and the change has resulted in increasing numbers from Central Government and the Private Sector.
