The membership database and the members' handbook contain Socitm contact lists which are published to enable members to network with each other but should not be used for marketing purposes. Members will receive regular email broadcasts from Socitm, but if you think you are being emailed by a person or organisation abusing the Socitm membership email list, please send details to enquiries@socitm.gov.uk. Socitm does occasionally allow organisations to contact members by post where it believes the material being sent may be of interest.
To access the membership database, you need to log in as a member and the link will appear in the left hand menu.
The Members' Handbook is available to download from the library. The handbook contains a list of members with contact details, useful information about the Society, and its services.
Below is a description of the individual membership categories of Socitm. Socitm Insight is a separate subscription. If you wish to subscribe to Socitm Insight or read the benefits of Socitm Insight then follow the links.
The Society has five categories of membership:
Full members are officers directly employed in the public sector (non-profit making) and who have a major influence within their organisation on matters of ICT strategy, policy and/or delivery functions. Any organisation can have more than one full member provided the above requirements are met. Full Membership is subject to vetting by the Membership Committee.
Associate members are officers directly employed by public sector organisations who do not qualify for Full Membership but who are in an ICT or e-government role and wish to contribute to the work of the Society.
Affiliate members are people who no longer qualify as full members but who previously made a significant contribution to the Society whilst at that level.
Subscriber members are individuals who do not work for public sector organisations but who are of sufficient standing to convince the Membership Committee that the aims of the Society would be enhanced by their contributions. (This category can include consultants and managers of commercial organisations that supply the public sector). Subscriber members should note that Society events should not be regarded as sales opportunities unless this is specifically arranged.
Retired members are people who were previously members (of any type) and do not undertake paid work to a value of more than £5000 per annum.
Although only Full members are entitled to vote, all member categories have access to the full range of Socitm services
