Description
On Tuesday 11 July 2006, more than 225 delegates attended a stimulating event focused on website accessibility. They heard expert advice from keynote speaker Gee-Kay Wong (ex Usability Manager, BBC New Media) about the importance of user-centred design and techniques for achieving this.
Two further perspectives on usability were provided by Morgan McKeagney, MD of Dublin-based web consultancy IQ Content and Stefan Haselwimmer, MD of Usability Exchange. Stefan presented the results of brand new research by panel of disabled users into usability and accessibility of our top 20 websites (from Better connected 2006) which showed that none hit the mark perfectly!
The Socitm Insight team provided their perspectives. Martin Greenwood, Programme Director, explained why usability is now so important, and how the Better connected report in 2007 will present results differently, introducing the new E for Excellent site ranking. Reviewers Helen Williams, Sheenagh Reynolds and John Fox presented their two favourite council websites and the reasons why.
