ICT strategy workshop
Is building or renewing the ICT strategy a task you would rather do some other time? Do you have difficulty getting service managers to engage with the process? Or is the process an on-going task that involves a dedicated person or team on an almost permanent basis? How do you keep abreast of the technology challenges on the horizon? As expectations of what ICT can deliver increase, it becomes increasingly important to get the process right. Socitm Insight subscribers can attend this free workshop to learn about current thinking and contribute to developing strategy frameworks to suit the new agenda.

Further information
Getting the ICT strategy right involves accommodating the organisation’s changing business requirements, and visions of flexibility, agility, customer focus, value for money as well as the need for the ICT function to be responsive to change. Strategists have also to decide whether emerging trends, such as service oriented architecture, will be the next ‘big thing’ during the lifetime of their strategy, or fall by the wayside as just another fad.
Socitm Insight is revising its advice in a new report to replace the current Planning for ICT series, and preparing for our annual publication The technology challenge. Our research direction workshop includes subscriber presentations from councils who have tackled these issues, as well our latest thinking on how to approach strategy formulation and choice of architecture. Workshop sessions will cover a choice from:
- Getting all the architectures right
- Securing user engagement
- Optimising the governance function
- Planning for the green agenda
This is an extremely important topic area as government and service managers’ expectations of what technology will achieve for them increase.
