The last meeting of the Socitm East region was held  on Friday 21st September 2007 at Chilford Hall, near Cambridge.

The focus was on ‘Shared Services and Collaboration’ and how to deliver effective change within an organisation. Regional Chairman, Ray Ware (Maldon DC) chaired the sessions.

 

Sessions included:

  • a report on progress on the Government Connect project
  • how Somerset CC intend to improve services in partnership with Avon & Somerset Police and Taunton Deane BC through the ISIS (Improving Services in Somerset) project
  • from RoL Solutions on just how Gov metric helps local authorities understand the quality and quantity of customer service across all access channels, 24 hours a day

  • from Adrian Hancock on all the issues that are impacting the day to day delivery of local government services from an IT / Information management perspective

  • from Videalert on the phenomenal demand for and the growing impacts of IP CCTV networks in local authority areas
  • and from BEA Systems Ltd on how "Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)" is likely to impact local government service delivery   

The meeting was sponsored by Siemens who started proceedings by covering “Key Network challenges (Network Consolidation) facing the public sector”.

 

The meeting also included a short AGM for members only.
